The Ministry of Labor has proposed, for 2022, to agreee vize pentru 100,000 foreign workers newly admitted to the market, to cover the shortage of labor registered in areas such as construction of buildings, roads, al restauranttheir, transportstheir roads, hotelstheir and bakeryi.
The data registered by the National Agency for Employment show that, between January and August 2021, 264,983 jobs were vacant, 50,924 of which were repeatedly declared by employers because they could not get a job, according to a communique de preto quote de Agerprees.
„From our estimates, the supply of jobs from employers is about 480,000, and the demand from people who want to get a job is about 200,000. To help employers cover this labor shortage, the government will increase the number of permits granted to foreign workers to 100,000 workers next year. This does not mean that 100,000 workers will come to Romania, but that we give the possibility to all employers in the country to use human resources from abroad, if they do not find Romanian employees, so that their business does not get stuck. It is a natural economic decision, which has been adopted by other countries, because the priority is economic development”, a SAPS Minister interimar al Labor, Raluca Turcan.
During this year, the number of certificates requested by employers to the territorial agencies of ANOFM, necessary for obtaining the approval issued by the General Inspectorate for Immigration in order to employ foreigners on the Romanian territory, increased substantially.
Thus, between January and August 2021, 6,518 companies requested the issuance of certificates for 83,338 vacancies for which there was no labor force available on the Romanian labor market, compared to 4,135 companies for 49,200 available jobs , in the same period last year.
right legislației, foreigners can be employed in Romania only if „the employer has applied for a vacancy by a Romanian citizen, by a citizen of another Member State of the European Union or of the European Economic Area, by a citizen of the Swiss Confederation or by a foreigner holding the right to long-term stay on the territory of Romania”.
The contingent of newly admitted foreign workers on the labor market is established annually, by Government decision, at the proposal of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection. For 2021, a contingent of 25,000 newly admitted foreign workers was initially established on the labor market, later supplemented by 50,000, by a new Government decision adopted in August this year.
