The airport in eastern Dnipro has been bombed again by the Russian army and “completely destroyed,” the region’s governor said on Sunday, AFP and Reuters reported.
“New attack on Dnipro airport. There is nothing left of him. The airport and nearby infrastructure were destroyed. And missiles continue to fly, “Governor Valentin Reznicenko wrote in the Telegram.
“We are in the process of determining the number of victims,” he added.
The airport had been hit on March 15, when the runway was destroyed and the terminal damaged.
“During the night, high-precision missiles destroyed the base and headquarters of the nationalist Dnipro battalion in Zvonetsky, which had recently received reinforcements from foreign mercenaries,” Russia’s Defense Ministry was quoted as saying by Reuters.
Separately, the head of the Dnipro regional council, Mikola Lukashuk, said that five members of the emergency service were injured at the airport.
Serhii Gaidai, the governor of Lugansk, an eastern region on the border with Russia, wrote earlier in the Telegram that a school and a block of flats had been hit in the city of Sievierodonetsk. “Fortunately, there are no victims,” he said, according to sources quoted by Agerpres.
