Fans of the acclaimed survival-horror game Alone in the Dark can rejoice, as THQ Nordic has announced an upcoming event dedicated to the highly anticipated remake of the game. Acquiring the rights to the license in 2018, THQ Nordic had quietly worked on this remake project, which is now resurfacing with a special presentation.

Developed by Pieces Interactive, known in particular for their work on Magicka 2, the remake of Alone in the Dark was officially announced last August. Since then, the details had remained relatively under wraps, leaving fans waiting for more information.
However, THQ Nordic today revealed Alone in the Dark Spotlight, an event that will be held on May 26, 2023 starting at 2:00 a.m. Players will therefore have to stay up late or get up early so as not to miss this presentation which will highlight the remake of Alone in the Dark. The publisher also promises to answer the most frequently asked questions from fans. Maybe we will finally have the long-awaited release date? The studio hints that there will be some unexpected revelations.
For those not sated with this Alone in the Dark Spotlight, THQ Nordic is also planning the THQ Nordic Digital Showcase 2023 on August 11th, where more announcements and reveals are planned.
In this remake, players will reunite with familiar series protagonists Edward Carnby and Emily Hartwood. Emily’s uncle has mysteriously disappeared, leading them both on a perilous exploration of Derceto Manor, an asylum home to strange residents and monstrous creatures. Fans are eagerly awaiting the graphical improvements, new gameplay mechanics and terrifying atmosphere of this remake.
Alone in the Dark made an impression with its original release in 1992, considered one of the first survival-horror games. The franchise has gone through several iterations since then, but this remake promises to once again capture the essence of the original game while adapting it to current gamer standards and expectations.
So fans and survival-horror enthusiasts can’t wait to find out what THQ Nordic has in store for Alone in the Dark at the upcoming Alone in the Dark Spotlight event. Alone in the Dark is planned for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC, but does not yet have a release date. In development since the end of 2019, the title will take advantage of the possibilities offered by the Unreal Engine 4.
