The County Emergency Hospital in Târgu Jiu is still looking for cardiologists to provide guards in the medical unit, although the situation persists for several days, the hospital management is looking for help in other hospitals. On Tuesday, May 23, the management of the largest hospital in Gorj announced that it is making temporary hires to remedy the situation.
The County Hospital is hiring residents to provide on-call Cardiology
The County Emergency Hospital in Târgu Jiu has been without the emergency line from the Cardiology Department since May 19, after the five doctors resigned due to overwork and the fact that the level of allowances is at the level of 2018.
For four days the management of the hospital has been trying to remedy the situation, but so far the discussions with the resigned employees have had no results. A temporary solution was to hire some residents on a temporary basis.
“The Târgu Jiu County Emergency Hospital hires, through a part-time employment contract, 5th and 6th year resident doctors, specialist doctors and primary care doctors in the specialty of cardiology to ensure the Cardiology first line”, announced the management of the hospital in a statement sent Playtech.ro.
The hospital announced that it provides future employees with the on-call rate provided by current legislation and the transport settlement and that they will have a meal provided during the on-call hours.
“The management of the unit is still having discussions with cardiologists in the Hospital, but also with specialists from the county to convince them to conclude part-time work contracts for the guard line. Addresses of support were sent to the medical units in Oltenia and beyond”, the hospital representatives also stated.
The doctors who resigned say that the guards are paid at the level of the 2018 salary, i.e. 39 lei/hour, and overwork is also a problem.
Around 150 patients arrive daily at the Emergency Reception Unit within the medical unit, of which 12-14 need cardiological consultation, but the patients from the wards who need to be seen by cardiologists must also be calculated. Also, patients who are going to be operated and have complications must also have the consent of the cardiologists.
