For several months now, Ubisoft has not been celebrating and recently unveiled its financial results with a turnover down 15% and net losses of 494 million euros. To recover, the publisher has promised investors several important releases for the coming fiscal year such as Assassin’s Creed Mirage or Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, but also another “big game” which would be the open world Star Wars game. from Ubisoft Massive.
Ubisoft’s new Star Wars game from 2024?
According to information from Kotaku, the game would indeed be available at the beginning of 2024. However, it is not impossible that it will be postponed to the following financial year given the ambition of the project.
As a reminder, it was in January 2021 that Ubisoft Massive revealed that it was working on a Star Wars game. Developed under the in-house Snowdrop Engine and led by Julian Gerighty (The Division 2, The Crew), it must notably give life to new characters and new stories and Ubisoft is betting a lot on the title.
It would propose an open world and also a form of “interplanetary space travel” which remains to be defined.
A development that is struggling to progress?
Unfortunately, according to Kotaku sources, development is not progressing well and the plan to release the game in the current fiscal year is deemed too ambitious. When asked about the subject, a Ubisoft spokesperson simply said that the company would not comment on rumors and speculation.
Several job offers are also still available for the game on the studio’s website. A Lead Development Testerand Cinematic Artist and a Lead Gameplay Animator are still sought after to complete the workforce.
If, for the moment, we have not yet seen anything of the game, the Ubisoft Forward conference, which will take place on June 12, could be an opportunity for the publisher to unveil the first images. We will obviously be on the lookout for any information about him.
