How to get to the most beautiful village in Romania
Romania abounds in beautiful places that should be visited at least once in a lifetime. This is also the case of a village in Fundata commune, Brașov county, declared the first tourist village in our country: Şirnea.
Located in the most spectacular corridor, Rucăr-Bran, the town is at an altitude of approximately 1200 meters. For this reason, it is considered an ideal destination for all nature lovers offering spectacular views of the Bucegi and Piatra Craiului mountains.
What you can do if you get here
1. Nature walks and mountain trails
The village of Şirnea is wonderful to discover on foot, wandering along the finest streets in the village. Here you will come across homely, friendly, hard-working people who still make a living from animal husbandry.
2. Tasting local products
The tourists who have arrived here are humanized by the locals with selected traditional dishes that have a special taste. Perishoea soup, home-made sausages, sarmales in vine leaves with polenta, bulz in a pan baked in the stove or the traditional dessert: the pie filled with apples or with sweet cheese and raisins.
3. Visit to the ethnographic museum in the center of the village
The Ethnographic Museum in Şirnea is the place where you can see part of the history of the places. It is important to mention that the localities of Şirnea-Ciocanu are the place where battles took place between the Romanian Army and the Austro-Hungarian forces, on August 14/26 and 15/27, 1916.
4. Sledding and other winter sports activities
In winter, you will discover here a landscape taken from stories, the streets becoming the best places for sledding.
