There is very little time left until we actually enter the first month of summer, and ANM announces the updated weather forecast until the end of the week. Unfortunately, according to the new data, the weather is going crazy, and extreme phenomena are appearing again in the territory. On the other hand, these phenomena are due to a new cyclone coming from the Mediterranean and as a result of the already well-known El Nino phenomenon. Read on and see what the weather forecast is until the end of the week.
We are approaching June, and the weather is going crazy
June brings with it the official start of summer 2023, but what kind of weather can we expect this month? Meteorologists have issued the extended forecast for June, highlighting the weather for the next period in Europe, saying that extreme phenomena will occur. In other words, the weather is going crazy next month as well.
The latest forecast update for the summer of 2023 shows some interesting trends. Weather patterns appear more diverse in North America, with a strong start to an El Niño event, while high-pressure airlock tends to occur in Europe, forecasters say.
One of the most important factors behind seasonal weather patterns is usually El Niño, and the cold phase is called La Niña. Each phase specifically influences pressure patterns and the resulting weather. For three years, experts say, we’ve been in a cold phase, La Niña, but now the oceans are rapidly transitioning to a warm phase called El Niño.
According to the weather forecast for June, July and August, a stronger area of high pressure is found in north-west Europe, particularly in the UK, Ireland and western Scandinavia. Such a powerful system can have a large-scale influence on summer weather patterns in Europe.
“The surface pressure anomaly also shows an interesting pattern in the tropical Pacific. A broad area of low pressure is expected to cover the tropical eastern Pacific and Caribbean. This indicates an emerging El Niño pattern. In addition, an area of low pressure is expected over the United States and an area of high pressure over Greenland and Northern Europe,” the weather forecast added.

Today, Code Yellow of temporarily increased atmospheric instability
This morning ANM issued a Yellow Code warning announcing temporarily increased atmospheric instability, valid until this evening, at 11:00 p.m. According to the warning, the areas affected by these phenomena are Banat, Crișana, Maramureș, western Transylvania, western and northern Oltenia:
“During the mentioned interval in Banat, Crișana, Maramureș, western Transylvania, western and northern Oltenia there will be periods of heightened atmospheric instability, which will be manifested by electrical discharges, torrential showers, wind intensifications (gusts of 50…60 km/h h), storms and hail. In short intervals of time or through accumulation, the water quantities will be 20…25 l/m2 and isolated more than 30…40 l/m2. Such phenomena will be in restricted areas and in the rest of the territory”, is specified in today’s ANM warning.

ANM issued the updated weather forecast until the end of the week
Officially, from June 1, we enter the first month of summer, but the updated weather forecast until the end of the week announces thermal changes and extreme phenomena in several areas of the country in the next period.
According to ANM, a mass of warm air will come over Romania, but also atmospheric instability. The data from the updated weather forecast until the end of the week reveals that these phenomena will be mainly during the afternoons and during the evening, when there will be torrential rain showers, electrical discharges and even short-term wind intensifications.

The most affected areas, according to ANM, will be the west and south of the country, especially the hill and mountain areas. In Bucharest, the updated weather forecast until the end of the week announces values between 27 and 28 degrees, but there are chances of rain showers:
“A cloudy system is approaching the Capital area, so we will have short-term intensifications of the wind and even showers and electrical discharges,” said Alina Șerban, a meteorologist in the ANM, on Antena 3 CNN.
Although we would expect a sharp warming of the weather, it seems that the beginning of June also brings heat, the appearance of a new cyclone, but also extreme phenomena.
