Giovanni Becali did not leave with one and two and bought the apartment that the National Fiscal Administration Agency (ANAF) put up for sale, in an attempt to recover part of the damage from the “Transfer File”. The building has a very high sentimental value, and its price almost doubled after the auction. Victor Becali admitted with a smile that the headquarters of their company has been in this apartment for more than 30 years, which the family thought had been lost.
Giovanni Becali bought at auction the apartment in Bucharest that ANAF put up for auction
Giovanni Becali had big problems because of the Transfer File. He was sentenced to six years and four months in prison and was also executed for the damage he caused to the state budget. Eight people were indicted in this whole case, and the damage caused to the clubs was almost ten million dollars, while the state requested 1.5 million dollars.
ANAF confiscated Giovanni Becali’s apartment in the Floreasca area, the one where he started his impresario business and where the company’s headquarters was from day one, and put it up for auction. The starting price was 975,000 lei, but the price then increased a lot. Victor Becali revealed, half-heartedly, how the amount came to be almost double, in the show on gsp.ro.
“It was sold for 1,840,000 lei… The first headquarters of your company.
The headquarters is still there!
In another apartment?
Still in that one!
Did you buy it yourself?
(Laughs) I don’t know, but we’re still sitting there. Am I not allowed to buy it or what? Did I need someone else to buy it for me? I have nothing to hide! It was an auction where anyone could come. The highest bidder was a lady,” said Victor Becali.
The impresario also revealed why his brother insisted on buying the apartment again. Even though the price has increased a lot.
“I can say that it was a sentimental thing because otherwise there were many places to move the headquarters of the company. But know that all feelings pass by money. If it costs us a million euros, we won’t take it,” said Giovanni Becali’s brother.
According to the cadastral documentation, the apartment is located in the Floreasca area, close to Floreasca Park, Jean Monnet Garden, Dinamo Stadium, and consists of five rooms and outbuildings. It is on the first floor of a block, with P+4E height regime, built in 1990. The total area is 118 sqm
