Tina Turner, the queen of Rock’n’Roll, died on Wednesday at the age of 83, leaving behind a sea of sadness. Unfortunately, the last years of the artist’s life were filled with many sorrows, after she lost her two biological sons. Life with her ex-husband was not easy either, but the loss of children was a real tragedy for the great voice of pop music.
Tirna Turner, a life worth a thousand words
The artist Tina Turner will remain a living legend of pop and soul music, being a real inspiration for all generations that followed her. The singer was also a composer, producer and talent discoverer, training dozens of singers who became famous.
Although she was the most sought-after, top-selling solo artist in history, Tina Turner lived a tumultuous life behind the success and popularity she enjoyed. She married out of great love to her husband, Ike Turner, who later became her greatest enemy.
The singer had many years of marriage where she was the victim of physical abuse. After many assaults endured, the singer decided to leave the marital home to save her life. She even had to resort to an operation to reconstruct and reshape her nose, due to the blows she received.
“He used my nose as a punching bag so many times I could taste the blood running down his throat when he sang,” the star wrote in the book “My Love Story” in 2018.
The loss of her two sons affected her very much
The late Tina Turner experienced the greatest drama a parent can experience, that of burying their own sons. His first son died in 2018, aged 59, after choosing to commit suicide. Craig Raymond was the fruit of love between her and saxophonist Raymond Hill, and his loss pained the artist enormously.
After this huge blow that only a mother can truly understand, last year, the artist’s second son, Ronnie Turner, the son she had with her ex-husband, Ike Turner, also died. He died at the age of 62, after suffering a cardiorespiratory arrest. The announcement was made by Ronnie’s wife, Afida Turner.
“God, Ronnie Turner, a true angel, with a huge soul, a man of high spirituality, my husband and my best friend…Your soul mate, I was always by your side, I did everything in my power possible and I failed to save you. I love you for these 17 years together. It’s a very, very serious situation and I’m extremely angry,’ Afida Turner said.
