The Government of the Republic of Moldova approved on Thursday, at the proposal of the Commission for Exceptional Situations, the extension of the state of emergency in the country by 60 days, starting from June 4.
The document must be presented to the Legislature for adoption, informs the Chisinau Executive in a press release.
The need to extend the state of emergency is argued by the continuation of the Russian Federation’s war of aggression against Ukraine and the security risks to the country, writes Agerpres.
Also, considering the energy, hybrid, social and security challenges generated by the current regional context, the authorities need to maintain some levers and tools that allow quick and efficient decision-making.
The state of emergency in the Republic of Moldova was established on February 24, 2022, with the outbreak of the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
