“There are some extremely skilled applicators who make exceptional incomes practicing this trade. There are many people from various professions who came to the profession of applicator out of passion, rather than necessity. Teachers are one of these professional categories”, Călin Gavaleru, representative of a premium paint company, told CNN live on Antena 3.
The teachers are on strike
However, most of the teachers do not agree to give the chair up for grabs, so they went on strike, hoping that the Government will increase their salaries.
Thus, more than 10,000 teaching staff protested today in the center of the Capital, initially in Piața Victoriei, from where they marched to the Parliament, on the fourth day of the general strike.
Teachers are not fooled by vouchers
In this way, in front of the Government, the union leaders announced that they reject its offer, which they consider offensive.
The teachers said they don’t need vouchers, but decent wages, so the general strike continues, as do street protests.
The teachers even mentioned the danger of changing the calendar of national exams.
Nicolae Ciucă’s appeal to teachers
On a visit to Cluj, Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă said that he will never promise teachers something that cannot be achieved and appealed to them to “understand the context in which we find ourselves”.
“It depends on all of us and it depends on understanding the situation and the context in which we find ourselves. From the very beginning of this protest action by the unions in Education, we sought to demonstrate that we understand and that, indeed, the teachers in Romania (…) deserve our gratitude and to be placed on the salary scale where we assumed ( …) that it must be”, said Nicolae Ciucă.
