The execution contract for the first part of the subway in Cluj-Napoca will be signed on Thursday, in the presence of Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă and the Minister of Transport, Sorin Grindeanu, and the Minister of the Interior, Lucian Bode.
When will the metro from Cluj-Napoca be ready?
After the signing of the contract worth almost nine billion lei for the M1 metro line in Cluj-Napoca, the works will start in a straight line.
The mayor of the city, Emil Boc, estimated that the works will be completed in 2031 and that the trains will be able to transport between 15,000 and 20,000 passengers. The M1 highway will have 19 stations, on a route of 21 kilometers.
When will it be possible to use the metro to Otopeni Airport?
At the beginning of the month, the general director of Metrorex, Mariana Miclauș, announced that metro traffic to Otopeni Airport will be possible from 2027, and the Minister of Transport, Sorin Grindeanu, made clarifications.
“Everything related to the M6, the first section, probably somewhere in June the order to start works will be given, the actual execution, because the design part has been completed, so somewhere in June we will have the execution part on the first section, the one that it is financed, today as we speak, from POIM and will be phased on POT.
I hope that everything that I have been trying for a year, namely the transfer of this section from POIM or POT to PNRR, will happen and the signals are positive and at the last Government meeting Mr. Boloş assured me that one of the changes already accepted by the European Commission in PNRR is this exchange between M4 and M6″, explained the Minister of Transport.
“The second section. This contract has a duration of 48 months. Also, six stations, like the first section that will connect Tokyo station with Otopeni Airport. I believe that a capital, and we believe that a European capital, such as Bucharest, cannot be without a connection with the city, in this case with the center of Bucharest, in fact, without a connection with the metro.
That is why we consider this project extremely important. Financing exists on both sections, the builders on both the first section and the second have the necessary experience in making these projects”, added the official.
