“The people who do not participate in the strike will work online,” the representatives of the “Gheorghe Lazăr” National College from Sibiu said.
While her colleagues continue discussions with the Government, trying to have their demands fulfilled, Carmen Iohannis chose to participate on Thursday, May 25, together with her students, in a meeting with Klaus Iohannis and the President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who were on an official visit to the city of Sibiu.
The First Lady and the group of students waited for the two presidents at the exit of the FDGR headquarters. The heads of state took photos with the students and Carmen Iohannis.

What Klaus Iohannis says about the teachers’ protest
Just a day before, the president of Romania declared that “the requests of teachers, of teachers in general, as I said before, are for the most part legitimate, easy to understand. The coalition is in a position to negotiate something and I am very glad that these negotiations are actually being conducted in a coalition format. There have been several meetings and my hope is that they end amicably.”
“Solutions were found for a number of points claimed by the unions. These, and I had a discussion with the leadership of the coalition on this topic, these promises will be honored, regardless of how the negotiations go, what the Government has promised that it is possible to do.
On the other hand, the unions must also see that a negotiation happens in such a way that the parties meet somewhere in the middle. It is hard to imagine that all the requests will be satisfied from today to tomorrow, but the matter remains in the attention of the coalition and there is this firm promise to work on the single salary law that will surely come with positive solutions for employees in education as well. This is about the strike”, added President Klaus Iohannis.
