Reviving the Star Wars machine, The Mandalorian’s successful mission

The Mandalorian is a big hit for Disney and its SVOD platform. Relaunching the machine after a variously received postlogy, the series opened a new part of the universe by abandoning the history of the Skywalkers, even if the latter are not far away. Set after the fall of the Empire, it depicts a gray universewhere the Republic struggles to impose its authority, where the former Imperials are in between two waters, and where a mysterious group seeks to get their hands on a Force-sensitive creature that resembles Yoda. Between its characters, its staging and its effects, The Mandalorian has managed to impose itself.

We will find him soon if all goes well, but one thing is already certain: their adventures will end at the cinema! During the Star Wars Celebration, we learned that Dave Filoni was going to direct this feature film which already promises an epic finale. For many viewers, Pedro Pascal IS Din Djarin. They are not wrong, but they are far from being right. We explain to you. The armor from The Mandalorian has been worn by Pedro Pascal, but only at specific times. For the rest, we find under the helmet Brendan Wayne and Lateef Crawder. The former gave the character his gait and how to use weapons, while the latter specialized in melee scenes.

Pedro Pascal rarely in armor? Obviously that’s not a problem.

Pedro Pascal therefore only wore it for a few scenes, and of course for the sequences where he removes the helmet. As for the dialogues, don’t worry, it is Pedro Pascal who provides the show. However, and if it were known, the actor had only very rarely expressed himself on this subject. It is now done, thanks to an interview with our colleagues from The Hollywood Reporter. Pedro Pascal returned to the third season of The Mandalorian, season where Din Djarin does not once remove his helmet. And during the discussion, he brought up the fact of not being mostly the one seen in the beskar armor:

For a large part of the series, I only do the voice. There was a lot of experimentation with the costume for a lot of the time, and quite honestly my body wasn’t ready to do this job for the full 4 months. But I was still in it. I was in it for quite a while. But now we realized that I could pass on, which is super cool, and surprisingly, it gave me the opportunity to go and do something else.

The actor was therefore physically not ready to play Din Djarin from start to finish. Obviously, the situation caused debate, before finally be accepted by everybody. Din Djarin is the voice of Pedro Pascl and a bit of his body, associated with the performances of Brendan Wayne and Lateef Crawder. It must be said that the actor has been busy. During the filming of season 1, Pedro Pascal was filming the sequel to Wonder Woman.

For season 3 his absence is largely due, and you can probably imagine it, to the production of The Last of Us, series for which he had no other choice but to be really present. Far from pulling the blanket to him, it largely highlights the performances of the other actors. Perhaps these statements will allow his cronies to get better exposure, because after all, they are as much Din Djarin as Pedro Pascal ballast.
