The young generation in our country does not make a very good impression in the European Union, according to the latest statistical data from Eurostat.
Romania marks the negative performance of being in first place in the European Union in terms of the proportion of young people who neither study nor work.
Young people in Romania run away from work, but also from school. The situation is serious
Practically, in our country there is a worrying number of young people without any future prospects, not integrated into the daily normal, which requires either having a place in the labor field, or going to school and acquiring professional skills in order to have access to a job later.
The Eurostat data should raise serious questions for the decision-makers, because a country with a young generation that does not have any kind of social integration is obviously a failed and lost state, with no real chance of development in the future.
According to the official analysis of European statisticians, last year more than one tenth (11.7%) of young people (15-29 years old) in the European Union were not employed, in education or training (the so-called NEETs -neither in employment nor education or training).
It is serious that this percentage is different from one country to another, but the most worrying situation is found here. For example, the percentage is only 4.2% in the Netherlands, while here it reached 19.8%. Nowhere in the entire European community do we encounter a more critical situation among the young generation.
In the current context of the education crisis, these statistics should represent the starting point for serious discussions involving decision-makers, schools, universities, representatives of the private environment, psychologists, but also parents, in order to lay the foundations for strategies economic and social to stimulate the insertion of young people both in the field of work and in the school environment. Otherwise, we risk having a generation without a compass, which we will not be able to count on in old age to be able to pay our pensions.
