He made his music debut almost 20 years ago, with an album produced by Marius Moga. The nonconformist artist told us about her beautiful family, about music, but also about the new song she collaborated on with Smiley. Corina Bud, candid interview about her boyfriend and son, exclusively for Playtech News.
“I think I changed the music, I came up with something very fresh”
Playtech News: How maverick is Corina Bud in public?
Corina Bud: I still behave normally on the street. The peak, after so many years of career, I don’t feel this job. I act supernatural and talk to everyone, from street cleaners to who else?! I think that I changed the music, that I came up with something very fresh, with a very fresh image, and that mattered to people. My hits, even the oldest ones, which are a few years old, are sung even by the young audience, 14-20 years old. And that seems really cool to me and that I managed to leave something behind. And this is what I see in my concerts, including in clubs where the young audience comes and where they sing verse by verse, starting from the very first verse. I’m also referring to “No one can separate us now”, released with Marius Moga, at the time. There I actually see the appreciation of my work and see that people love me as I love them. And I can’t wait to see you again. But for that, I have to keep working and leave the good music and quality stuff behind.
“I really feel and look like a 20-something”
Playtech News: What did music mean to you?
Corina Bud: For me, beyond my job, music was also a passion. And I wanted it all along. It wasn’t something I did for a personal interest, for money or I don’t know what other reasons. I did it out of passion and quality always came first and then the rest came.
Playtech News: What is your relationship with time? Is he your ally?
Corina Bud: The years have passed, that’s right! My relationship with time from this point of view is a very good one because I really feel and look like 20-something years old. And I’m not saying this because I have to. That’s exactly how I feel and that’s what I want to talk about! Of course, there are people who reach my age and feel very old and tired. I don’t feel that way. On the contrary, I feel even better, much more settled, more balanced, more mature. I can make much better decisions. It’s important to keep that childish spirit. I am a child and all my life I will be a child. Sometimes it scares me how childish I can be in some matters or situations. I like being a kid sometimes. The good thing is that I have the other side too! I am very mature and balanced and that somehow helps! From another point of view, time is not my good ally. And that’s because I never have time to do so many things I’d like to do. Sometimes I feel like I have to do a lot of things and I realize that I can’t do as much as I would like. In this Bucharest, if you aim to reach more than three different places in the same day, it’s almost impossible. But we adapt! We do what we can in the time we have.
Corina Bud, candid interview about her boyfriend and son
Playtech News: Will you ever make your relationship official with your current boyfriend?
Corina Bud: Our relationship is official! In the sense that I am of the opinion that there is no need for an act to formalize a certain relationship. It’s more than official. We love each other, there is a super connection between us and we understand each other very well and we do super beautiful things together. And for us all this is enough! I have never been married. I have never been a traditionalist from this point of view! I am on the principle of living now, here and enjoying what I live! Since we don’t know what will happen in a week, tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, I can’t exclude anything from anything. Never! Nor the option of ever standing in front of the registrar!
Playtech News: What should we know about the chosen one of your heart?
Corina Bud: I don’t want to go into details on this topic. I’m not a public person and in general I’ve never liked to talk about my private life or my boyfriend’s life because I respect his privacy. I have no reason to give more details, I repeat, as he is not a public figure. And I don’t think anyone cares about that either. There is enough information that our children are exposed to. I think people prefer to hear good music. I don’t think anyone would be interested in what kind of relationship Corina has, with whom… the message is actually that I’m fine, I’m fulfilled, I’m happy, that I have the strength and the people who give me the energy and strength to continue doing beautiful things .
Playtech News: Will Robin have a brother or sister?
Corina Bud: Now I have no answer to give you. I don’t believe in planning like that. If it’s going to happen, why not? I didn’t put any kind of barriers and blockages in anything at all. I’m Bruce Lee, like water, you know?! (laugh).
He often goes to football matches. What does he say about Cristi Chivu?
Playtech News: Are you a Microbist?
Corina Bud: I’m not a fan of the football phenomenon, but what wouldn’t I do for my son. And, I admit, I like it. I love the atmosphere! I don’t claim to be a microbist, nor do I know a lot about football, but I love the atmosphere! For the thrill there, it’s worth going. I have also been to other stadiums, in Madrid and Milan, for example. The difference was that in Manchester, the world was very civilized. I expected commotion, slightly aggressive supporters, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that the world was super civilized, reacting only when it was necessary to react. They sang beautifully, civilized. It wasn’t the craziness and rush that is in other matches, which I have witnessed before.
Playtech News: Have you watched other matches?
Corina Bud: I have also seen Cristi Chivu’s matches, because we are friends! I have an affinity for Cristi and Adelina Chivu, being my very good friends. So I will play it safe with Inter in Istanbul, in the final in June. I love to travel and do it as often as I can. I travel a lot! I still pick up the boy from school, when we go to events that deserve an effort on our part. He is in a private school. I’m also betting on the fact that he’s an attentive child, who studies very well and I know he’s recovering. I proposed that we also go to the final. We haven’t bought the tickets yet, we haven’t done all the necessary steps, but we’re definitely going. I think I will stick with Inter, in the final! And when Manchester played Real, I wouldn’t have necessarily stuck with Manchester. I only did it because I was at their house. But I found that many of my fans on social media were Real Madrid fans. I even asked my boyfriend, but also my son, why everyone cares about Real and I was told that there are many more Madrid supporters here, but also because they have won many trophies. But in that match, the English played better, I liked them much more.
He works with Smiley on a new project
Playtech News: What are you currently working on?
Corina Bud: I’m still working on good music and I’m preparing a super project now. Most likely, I will launch this project in the fall. But in the meantime, I’ll be releasing more tracks. For example, we just did a song at Hahaha Production, together with Smiley, which we hope will be the hit of the summer. I’m working a lot in the studio and the music show I’m preparing for the fall, which is taking up a lot of my time. I wish there was a project for another type of platform as well. A Netflix, for example. But let’s see if it will come out. It will be a very big show, in which many artists are involved and which has never been done before in Romania. I’ll give you just one hint: burlesque! It will be a more than challenging Corină Bud, but also super professional.
