After nine months of delay, the Olteniţa Pass, the largest on the Bucharest Ring Road, opened on Saturday, the National Road Company (CNAIR) announced. Thus, drivers will be able to drive in any direction, because the suspended roundabout reconfigures the intersection between the Bucharest ring road and the road to Olteniţa.
„Traffic opens today on Pasajul Olteniţa starting at 10:00 a.m.! The connection between Bucharest and Popeşti Leordeni will no longer intersect at the Capital Ring level, and the route will thus be safer and more comfortable for those transiting the area. The Olteniţa passage is the largest of the series of three passages built by CNAIR in the south of the Capital and has an ovoid shape, unlike the roundabouts at Domneşti and Berceni (which have a round shape)”, explains the head of CNAIR in a post on Facebook.
The Oltenita Passage is the third objective opened so far to traffic crossing the Capital Ring, after the Mogoșoaia Passage, opened in September 2021 and the Domnești Passage, opened in November 2022. According to the head of the CNAIR, the Berceni Passage is also to be opened shortly.

With a length of 3.69 km, this passage, built in the area of the town of Popești Leordeni, ensures from now on continuous connections on the Southern Belt of the Capital (between A2 and A1) but also between Olteniței road (Bucharest) and DN4 (Ilfov county).
