Digi24 special correspondents Valentin Stan and Gabriel Necșulescu are in Ankara and report the atmosphere and reactions of Turks after the partial results that give Recep Erdogan the winner for another term as president.
Valentin Stan, Digi24 journalist: There is a festive atmosphere in Ankara and I think also in the big cities of Turkey. Everywhere you look, you see happy, singing people with smokestacks. The major boulevards of Anakara are blocked. Immediately after 80-85% of the votes were counted, when everyone realized that Recep Tayyip Erdogan was going to win, people started to take to the streets. Most of them are near the Presidential Palace, they surround it, they chant. There were no incidents or violent events.
On the other hand, when I left the Republican Party headquarters, it was quiet, a very sad atmosphere. This is the party led by Kemal Kilicdaroglu.
This frenzy will die down in the coming days and ordinary Turks will remember the problems they had before this election, mostly economic problems, and look again to Recep Erdogan for solutions.
