Go to war like a pharaoh.
The Total War series heads to Egypt with the next installment, subtitled Pharaoh.
Set to launch in October this year, Total War: Pharaoh will see players experience three cultures during the New Kingdom of Egypt at the end of the Bronze Age.
The game will feature a new customizable campaign as well as “dynamic” battles. Check out the announcement trailer below and his highly detailed fight with dung beetles.
The campaign will feature a number of customization options to ensure it’s different every time, ranging from random starting positions, to various resource settings, and even the ability to play with natural disasters.
This should ensure that campaign gameplay is accessible to all players.
Battles will be even more dynamic, with weather changes such as storms and sandstorms, as well as spreading fire that can burn through settlements and armies alike.
Return to Antiquity
Players will be able to choose from eight faction leaders from three cultures – Egyptian, Canaanite and Hittite – each with unique play styles. They will have to rule by diplomatic means or war.
“There are few periods more iconic than Ancient Egypt; filled with political intrigue, cataclysmic events and grand war campaigns, it’s the perfect setting for a Total War title,” said game director Todor Nikolov.
“As pharaoh, you must save Egypt from the brink of destruction and guide your people through the calamitous collapse of the Bronze Age. It’s up to you to either survive or go down in history.”
