Connect-R is one of Romania’s great artists, who has built an impressive musical career. Known to be an extremely honest man, the singer recently opened his soul to the public and spoke openly about his vices. How he managed to get rid of them.
Connect-R, disturbing revelations from the past
Connect-R was also among those who decided to write a book about their lives. On Saturday, May 27, the artist had the launch of his autobiography, entitled “From the Nut Orchard”, at the Romexpo book fair.
The singer exposed his life on paper, telling a lot of details unknown to many from the time when he started on the wrong paths. He told how he started to consume prohibited substances, to go to women, but also how he managed to get out of this circle.
“I started using drugs, for four years, from 2009. I had started giving money, cocaine, women… These were the order of the day. Basically, I had started to self-destruct, I used to consume daily.
Thank God I stopped in time! Belonging to the select group of those who make money from music conveyed to me: “Come on, do it too!”. Consumption led to my degradation. I wasn’t paying much attention anymore… In 2012 when I released “I don’t sleep in the summer”, I felt important again. And my way of showing that I felt important, that year, was something like this: “Come on, fuck on the table! We consume the most expensive drugs”.
My health was beginning to be affected, depressions and anxieties appeared… How did I recover? I met Mihaela, Misha, my ex-wife. When I met her, I gave up… When Mihaela got pregnant, she was preparing to give birth, I gave up absolutely everything. We simply put a stop to drugs and women,” revealed Connect-R.
He became ambitious to give up the vice
The artist told that he was most ambitious to give up consumption thanks to his daughter. Connect-R realized that a new family member was coming into his life, so the “effort” was totally worth it.
He stopped and started from scratch, on a new road, in a new beginning, with Misha and Maya.
“To be clear, it wasn’t my wife who made me quit, but the little girl who was going to be born. My conscience told me: 1Done, the child is coming. Stop! (..)
“To let go, you need awareness. That’s it. I no longer say that they harm you, they make your life hell, but even more importantly, I believe that life is divided into “before” and “after the child”. It’s not just us anymore.
I was thinking, “What if I’m going to hold him and let him go, being a d*****?”. And I said: “Stop!”. It’s not hard to let go. No vice! If you fill your life with something else, it’s not hard to let go. For me, the fact that a child was coming, a new soul, created by me, was stronger than anything
(..) Waiting for the birth of the child strengthened me and made me stop struggling. Thank you!”, the former contestant from Asia Express also wrote to his book.
The singer also has other sensational revelations about his life and career. He talked about how he met his ex-wife, what relationships they are in today, but also about his closeness to God.
