News culture Succession: The end of the best HBO series of the moment does not only make people happy… Even the actors complain
Fans mourn the end of the HBO series Succession and they are not the only ones… One of the actors of the series has indeed taken the floor to express his disagreement with the choices of its creator, Jesse Armstrong.
Succession, another essential HBO series?
Decidedly, HBO continues to offer us exceptional series. If naturally we would tend to quote Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, True Detective or The Last of Usthe chain has many other qualitative series in its catalog. And this is particularly the case of Successionseries which ended this weekend after almost five years of adventures. For those who are late, a little summary is in order!

Succession follows the adventures of a wealthy family, the Roy family. The latter owns one of the most powerful American conglomerates. How to complain in such a situation? So much money and power should a priori be enough to make a whole family happy, right? Except that when Logan, the patriarch, suffers a stroke, the question of succession must arise. And the latter, will create great tensions and disagreements which will make the salt of these four seasons rich in twists and turns. And one of them had a little trouble passing for the spectators… and even an actor.

A season 4 rich in twists and turns

The crime took place during the third episode of this final season. If you have not seen the latter, we invite you to avoid this paragraph and the quote that follows it. Now that those who don’t want to be spoiled have stopped reading, let’s get to the heart of the matter: the death of Logan Roy. Unexpected at this time of the season, the latter made many fans react, sad to see the patriarch they loved to hate go. Brian Cox, who played Logan throughout the series, recently reacted to his character’s death during an interview with BBC News. And obviously, he received this news rather badly: “Honestly, I saw it, certainly wrongly, as a form of rejection! {…} I couldn’t help but feel a little rejected…” In addition to his personal feelings, he also expressed his disagreement with this decision:
Creator Jesse Armstrong decided to kill Logan too soon in my opinion… {…} I think maybe he should have died in the fifth or sixth episode.
But obviously, this decision did not taint the quality of the series, quite the contrary. Episode 3 of season 4 is even the most popular of the entire series, according to IMDb. Moreover, it was until recently the highest rated episode of all time on the site (tied with the episode of Breaking Bad Ozymandias). As for the grand finale of this season 4, it records, at the time of writing, a rating of 9.6 out of 10 on IMDb. Until its conclusion, the series will therefore have obviously been able to maintain its quality, unlike other HBO series…
