The three big education federations are organizing, on Tuesday, from 11:00 a.m., a new protest in Bucharest. The teachers are gathering in Piața Victoriei, from where they will march to Cotroceni. In the context of the protest that will take place between 11.00 and 16.00, traffic restrictions were imposed in Bucharest.
UPDATE 11.10 The representatives of the trade unions in education received an official invitation to discussions with the Government.
UPDATE 11.00 The National Alliance of Student Organizations in Romania (ANOSR), the Romanian Youth Council (CTR) and the National Student Council (CNE) announce that they stand in solidarity with the teaching staff and their trade unions and express their support for their demands.
“We are convinced that the real reform of education cannot be carried out without an appropriate allocation of the state’s financial resources, and quality education can only be built on solid economic foundations, able to motivate the best graduates to choose the teaching position.
A salary of a debutante teacher, worth 2,400 RON, is disconnected from the socio-economic reality of the year 2023, and the Romanian state is obliged to take responsibility for this situation and take the strategic decision of the correct financing of the education system.
Considering the imminence of the entry into force of the education laws, ANOSR, CTR and CNE request compliance with the provisions that have just been adopted by the Parliament and the allocation of 15% of the national budget to education”, according to the message posted on the Facebook page of ANOSR.

How did we get to yet another teacher protest?
The representatives of the trade unions declared, on Monday, after the discussions at the Ministry of Labor, that they asked for a salary increase until the end of the year and to be guaranteed that in the salary law the debutant teacher’s salary will be at least equal to the average salary in the economy.
They conveyed that there are no reasons why the protest scheduled for Tuesday should not take place, as they have not obtained anything concrete.
Also, the trade unionists requested a meeting with President Klaus Iohannis, whom they ask to exercise his role as “mediator between the state and society in order to obtain real and immediate solutions for the education system from the Executive.” The union leaders conveyed to the president that, until this moment, the Government’s offer does not meet any of the protesters’ demands. The union’s request was registered with the Presidential Administration, which has not yet sent any response.
The Minister of Labor, Marius Budăi, stated that during Monday’s negotiations with the unions in Education, he had “a separate mandate on two levels”: to discuss what is happening with the strike and to shorten the initial deadline, of July 15, for the law payroll.
For his part, the Minister of Education, Ligia Deca, stated that, at this moment, “we are not in a position to delay the exam calendar in any way”.
“The deadline for the conclusion of the averages for class XII and class XIII, in the case of evening education, is June 2. If necessary, we will extend this term, so that all the children have completed their schooling”, she said.
