Why is the bark of the trees in the orchard cracking?
It is a problem that those who have dedicated a corner of their garden to the planting of fruit trees face at all times of the year, especially in the spring – early summer months.

It is not only an aesthetic problem, they turn into gateways for different harmful bacteria, fungi and insects that can affect the development of trees:
- excess moisture and temperature variations

The remedy that saves them
Fortunately, there are also some remedies that will help you if you are facing this problem. It is very important to act as quickly as possible after noticing a crack in the bark of trees in the orchard.
The first step is to clean the crack. Then, it is treated with a solution containing 2-3% copper sulfate or Bordeaux mixture.
“If the crack is ‘clean’, with nice edges and no hanging bark, leave the trunk alone. It will heal itself.
If there is an irregular break with torn bark, cut off the affected bark. Next, clean around the wound with a sharp, sterile knife. This cut stimulates cambium growth and accelerates healing,” according to Agrobiznes.ro.
After the crack has been disinfected, a special paste can be applied to its surface to protect it, but this measure is optional, not many being convinced of its role in healing the bark.
