The war of statements on Facebook, between PSD and PNL, after the resignation of the head of ANAF, Lucian Heiuș. The two parties in the Coalition pass their responsibility, after Heiuș published a document that shows a hole in the ANAF collection of almost 9 billion lei. The liberals blame Ionuț Mişa, the director of ANAF appointed by the PSD in charge of collecting money from the big taxpayers, and the Minister of Finance for overestimating the budget receipts, while the social democrats published a cascade of messages on Facebook criticizing the resigned head of ANAF, appointed by PNL.
“The amounts actually collected by ANAF were 8.9 billion lei lower than the program and 11.3 billion lei lower than what was declared”, says the Minister of Finance, Adrian Câciu, on Tuesday, after a day ago the head of ANAF announced that he is resigning and published a document in which the receipts are in the red. The biggest part of the hole of 8.9 billion lei is at the direction of the big taxpayers, led by Ionuț Mişa.
“PNL has once again left disaster in their wake! As we have learned with all right-wing leaderships, regardless of whether we are referring to the governmental level or at the head of the deconcentrates, the panellists burn everything around them, instead of building”, PSD leader Gabriel Zetea wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.
And other leaders of the social democrats sent messages accusing Heiuș of being the only one to blame for the bad collection.
“Mr. Heiuş would have proven his performance, but only on the slopes, skiing, not at work, considering the disastrous situation of non-payments to the state budget. (…) Unfortunately, the Minister of Finance could not dismiss the head of ANAF – the decision had to come from Prime Minister Ciucă and here it is, and we welcome this,” wrote social democrat Marian Mina.
Also from the PSD, Daniel Suciu also reacted, saying that “it’s a dismissal, not a resignation, no matter how Mr. Heiuș presents it. There is no honor in leaving now, after ignoring all the signals and denying that there is a big problem with the collection.”
On the other side, the liberals reacted and blamed the Minister of Finance, Adrian Câciu, for allegedly overestimating the budget for 2023.
“The main culprit for the “hole” of billions of lei (because we don’t know exactly how many billions it is) is without a doubt the Minister of Finance Adrian Câciu. Not the taxpayers, nor the business environment, which faced electricity and gas prices even 3 times higher than last year, with exaggerated interest on loans or higher taxes. It is the Minister of Finance who ignored the signals from the economy and made changes to the Fiscal Code, increasing taxes and significantly reducing collection. It’s a simple lesson in economics,” wrote PNL deputy Gheorghe Pecingina.
And former liberal Prime Minister Florin Cîțu also considers Finance Minister Adrian Câciu guilty: “Marcel Ciolacu together with MF-PSD is knowingly throwing Romania into a crisis. (…) PSD knowingly falsified the construction of the budget for 2023. It overestimated the revenues and underestimated the expenses. After 4 months, the little thing exploded in his face”.
PNL sources claim that branch presidents are unhappy that PSD is blaming the liberals. “Heiuș is not to blame, Câciu had to answer”, claim the cited sources
After Heiuș’s resignation on Monday, Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă announced on Tuesday that he also dismissed the head of Customs, Bogdan-Lari Mihei.
