The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rafila changes the anti-cancer plan, only seven months after its promulgation. It was already approved by law in Parliament, promulgated by the head of state and should have entered into force on July 1.
But now, a month before, Rafila is targeting a new Cancer Plan, which, however, he avoided clarifying. That is, in what form it will be adopted and if a new law passed through the Parliament is needed. Cancer patients announce that they will take to the streets.
Minister Rafila takes cancer patients out into the streets
“We are not interested in the minster’s boastings and conceits. He proved that he is a man who does not think about his patients, but about his own pride. We no longer have anything to discuss with Mr. Rafila, because he demonstrated, if it needed to be demonstrated, that he is a man who does not think about patients, but his pride is more important”, said Cezar Irimia, president of the Federation of Associations of Cancer Patients – the largest association representing cancer patients in Romania, according to HotNews.ro.
The Federation of Associations of Cancer Patients will have a conference this weekend in which they will decide on a calendar of protests after the decision of the Ministry of Health to postpone the entry into force of the Cancer Plan.
“We have a law voted by the entire Parliament that must be defended. Minister Rafila is delaying it for half a year. Who is responsible for the dead during this time?”, asks Cezar Irimia.
Street protests are announced, and the Ministry of Health will be sued for non-compliance with the law.
“On July 1, when the 180 days in which the implementing rules for the Cancer Plan adopted by Parliament should have been ready (the Plan should have entered into force on July 1 – ed.) end, we act The Ministry of Health in court for non-compliance with the law and we will go out with protests in the streets. We are not interested in the minister’s nonsense, and you cannot come up with a law to an already promulgated law. It is from the night of the mind”, concludes Cezar Irimia.
The National Plan to Combat Cancer would bring European money to Romania for a better management of the situation of oncological patients – the EU makes available in total, for all countries that apply with a plan, approximately 4 billion euros.
