A former famous gymnast from Romania became a nun
She was known by the name Cristina and, since she was a child, she prepared for a career in sports. He practiced performance gymnastics. He would not know, however, what the future had in store for him. When he was 25 years old, he stopped at a monastery, the Bogdana Monastery in Rădăuți. Here, she received the name of Saint Catherine, the patroness of the learned and book lovers.
Currently, the former famous gymnast in Romania is known as Maica Ecaterina. She chose to give up the brilliant career that awaited her in favor of repentance. It helps hundreds of children who have been abandoned by their families or who have suffered various abuses. The youngest he takes care of is 7 years old, and the oldest is 25.
“For one I am a mother, for one I am a sister, for one I am a friend. I become what they want me to be, so that I can be of use to them. I am a pawn through whom God wants to do something on earth,” said Maica Ecaterina, a former gymnast, in an intervention for the Observatory.
The nun can be known at the Saint Leontie Settlement, in Rădăuți, which houses about 126 children and young people. It was established in the fall of 2011, at the initiative of Arhim Iustin Dragomir, the abbot of Bogdana Monastery, and is intended for orphans and children from families with limited financial means.
Diplomas for a full-time mother. And a big heart
Saint Leontie’s settlement is home for Mother Catherine and the children she cares for. A few houses with red roofs and a church in the middle of them. The nun helps those in her care and takes them to various classes. Some do music, some do math, some are karate champions, and some act in plays.
“Every child who stepped through the gate, it was not by chance that they came here. My mission is to do something for him. The first arrived here 12 years ago. They were accommodated in the colorful houses where they manage, do their homework and plans. I don’t think I’ve ever gone to bed without thinking about them or what happened to me or what the one who is away in the family is doing or the children who have left us. You have to feel that you are doing good, man’s mission is to do good in general. The good is part of our being”, said Mother Ecaterina for the cited source.
