Prosecutors from the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Prahova Court are investigating a policeman from the Prahova County Police Inspectorate (IJP), who was placed under house arrest, the information being confirmed, on Thursday, for Agerpres, by the representatives of the Prosecutor’s Office.
IJP Prahova sent a point of view after the appearance in the public space of some information from which it appears that a police officer from the institution is being investigated for theft from homes.
“The Prahova County Police Inspectorate delimits itself from such behaviors that do not honor the institution and implements the legal provisions in disciplinary matters. At the same time, we specify that all citizens are equal before the law and legal measures will be taken regardless of their quality. Considering the quality of the person in question, the investigations are the competence of the Public Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Prahova Court”, says the cited source.
Later, PT Prahova confirmed, at the request of Agerpres, that it is conducting research in such a case.
“Considering the appearance in several press trusts of the information regarding the investigations carried out against a police officer from IPJ Prahova and the fact that the institution issued a press release regarding this aspect, we confirm that against a person with this quality investigations in a file of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Prahova Court. The preventive measure of house arrest was ordered against the person in question by the Ploiesti Court. The initiation of the criminal action and the arrest at home are stages of the criminal process that cannot defeat the presumption of innocence that the defendant benefits from,” the quoted source says.
According to the information appearing in the public space, the respective policeman would be accused of theft from homes.
