A police officer from Prahova was arrested by his colleagues. The reason why he ended up under house arrest

A policeman from Prahova was arrested by his colleagues and later placed under house arrest, after incriminating evidence was found in his home.

What would the policeman have done?

The man, employed by the Prahova County Police Inspectorate (IJP), allegedly broke into a house in Ploiești on March 2.

The owner of the house said that no valuables were taken from him, but that a few months ago there was another burglary and that then the amount of 3,000 lei was stolen.

After some checks it turned out that the policeman was the main suspect. His home was searched and incriminating evidence was found.

The policeman, under house arrest

After being detained for 24 hours, the policeman was brought before the magistrates, but they considered that he did not pose a danger and did not send him behind bars, but under house arrest.

Both the policeman and prosecutors appealed the decision. However, the Court of Prahova did not change the sentence, so the agent remained under house arrest. Regarding the disciplinary part, it was made available.

The spokesperson of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Prahova Court confirmed that investigations are being carried out against the policeman in a file of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Prahova Court and that he was placed under house arrest, according to News.ro.

“The initiation of the criminal action and the house arrest represent stages of the criminal process that cannot defeat the presumption of innocence that the defendant benefits from,” added the spokesperson.
