Four children were found unconscious on a beach in the province of Quebec, Canada, and were later pronounced dead, after a group of people on a fishing trip were caught by the tide, say the Police, quoted by CNN, transmits News .ro.
A spokesperson for the Quebec Provincial Police told CNN that rescuers were called to Portneuf-sur-Mer, a riverside town on the northern shore, on Saturday.
Eleven people were reported missing after they went on a fishing trip on foot and were caught by the tide, the spokesman said. Six of the 11 people were rescued and five remained missing overnight, he said.
In the morning, four children, all over the age of 10, were found unconscious and taken to hospital, according to the spokesman. The police later confirmed that those children were pronounced dead.
A man between the ages of 30 and 40 is still missing, according to Quebec police, and a search operation is underway with divers, boats and helicopters.
The police in the province of Quebec are investigating the circumstances in which this event took place, the spokesman also said.
