New scenes in a small village in the heart of Romania, put on the world map these days by the presence of the monarch of the United Kingdom. The picnic in Valea Zălanului brought much joy to King Charles. The sovereign was captured in poses in which he is seen quite rarely.
King Charles had new surprises at the picnic in Valea Zălanului
Less than a month has passed since the impressive ceremony at Westminster Abbey. Although many thought that after this historic moment, Charles III’s visits to his home in Romania will be much less frequent or that the monarch will completely give up these vacations, here the King has chosen our country as his first trip abroad since the coronation.
Despite the fact that it is a private visit, the King accepted the invitation of Klaus Iohannis to the Cotroceni Palace, where a dinner was organized in his honor.
A few hours later, the monarch arrived in his soul place in Romania, a small village in Covasna county. He was welcomed with open arms by the villagers, who gave him simple gifts: bouquets of peonies and sânziens. After greeting everyone present, he retired to his house.
The next day, Saturday, June 3, 2023, King Charles took a nature walk near the village, accompanied by Count Kalnoky Tibor and others.
Dressed casually, with sunglasses on his eyes, a pair of binoculars around his neck and a cane used to help him navigate the bumpy terrain, His Majesty enjoyed the scenery. The locals waited for him with traditional products, organizing a country party for him.

What the monarch wanted
Smiling, he again received the flowers offered by the villagers, chatted with them, laughed, as if more relaxed than ever, and then retired to his property.
It seems that the sovereign even had a special request for the village priest.
“I have been the village priest for a year and the king asked me if I have church wine. I told him I had, so I prepared some bottles for him. We brought some sweets to make us feel good and the congratulations from the Roman Catholic priests of Transylvania”, said the priest, according to Adevărul.
