News culture Resident Evil: a new film in preparation? The saga does not abdicate to the cinema
A new Resident Evil movie is reportedly planned, despite the reception of recent productions.
Resident Evil and the film adaptations, it’s a great story of love and hate. Since the beginning of the 2000s and until 2016, the actress Jovovich mile is the headliner of many films produced by Paul W. S. Anderson (to whom we also owe the film DOA: Dead or Alive and Monster Hunter).
In 2021, a brand new film was born, named Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City. And unsurprisingly, it was not well received by fans and the press. On Rotten Tomatoes it obtains an average of 30% of the press and 1.8/5 of the spectators on Allociné. As if that wasn’t enough, an 8-episode Netflix series appeared in 2022, soberly named Resident Evil, which didn’t convince fans either and was canceled after just one season.

Another Resident Evil Movie
Almost no film released so far has won unanimous acclaim. Worse still, with recent Resident Evil-related releases, fans are almost starting to miss the Paul WS Anderson movies starring Milla Jovovich. Yes, after Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City 2021, a sequel is in development. The city of Sudbury, which had hosted the filming of the first film, has received funding for a new film project called “The Umbrella Chronicles”. More precisely, it is 2 million Canadian dollars of government that has been allocated. In other words, Sony already seems to be investing in a sequel despite the negative reviews received when the film was released in 2021. Maybe this project will be better than the previous installment, in any case, fans are not done to hear about this franchise.
