Laurentiu Reghecampf has missed all the goals this season and the managers of the Neftchi Baku club are fed up with him and want to kick him out, even though he still has 12 months left on his contract. Playsport.ro found out that the Romanian coach is currently protected by a consistent clause, the one that the officials of the group from Azerbaijan prevailed upon, at the time of the offer from CS Universitatea Craiova.
Laurentiu Reghecampf, “difficult” to fire
Laurentiu Reghecampf had a disastrous season in Azerbaijan. He was brought in to win the title but finished the season 22 points behind leaders Qarabag and Neftchi Baku also lost the cup final. The Romanian coach is in a very bad relationship with those who run the club and with journalists, and there are rumors that the players have also complained that they are criticized after defeats, and the responsibility is thrown only behind them.
Playsport.ro writes that the bosses of Neftchi Baku are tired of Laurentiu Reghecampf and are looking for solutions to dismiss him, but for now the Romanian coach is protected by a clause of 100,000 euros. The owner of the club does not agree to pay this amount and would even have argued with those who run the group, whom he reproached for accepting this termination clause of the contract. The financier would have made it clear that this condition should not be accepted, but the president would have ignored this order.
This clause is also valid if Reghe wants to leave the team, before the summer of 2024, and for this reason the negotiations with CS Universitatea Craiova also failed.
“The interest was not only from Romania, but there is no need to talk about this topic. My contract with Neftci continues.
I feel very good in Baku. I want to accept the challenge and become a champion in Azerbaijan with my team”, recently declared Reghecampf, according to the Azerbaijani media.
Local journalists wrote that this clause is even higher and they are talking about 150,000 euros.
