In Romania, the status of a budget holder is associated in the collective mind with generous benefits, holiday vouchers, special pensions and other privileges that you are unlikely to encounter in private. In reality, there are numerous exceptions to that privileged status.
From a financial point of view, employees in the category of auxiliary health personnel have a very difficult life. According to the data aggregated by the Health Solidarity Federation, they represent the most disadvantaged category of personnel in the entire budgetary field. As a reference, the identification of this category was made for correct information of the public, in the context of the wave of protests in recent weeks.
The most vulnerable budgets
“For the correct information of the public and politicians regarding the legitimacy of the demands that are the object of the protests, the “Health Solidarity” Federation continues the analytical presentation of the problems and injustices faced by health workers. Having previously presented the problems faced by doctors and nurses, we now indicate the situation in which the auxiliary health personnel are, most of them consisting of nurses, caretakers, stretcher bearers. Nurses, caretakers, stretcher bearers are the employees most affected by the dysfunctions of the Single Pay Law, this being a continuous source of inequity”, says a press release from the FSSR.
The big problem related to the auxiliary health personnel, as the trade unionists draw attention, is that even up to the present moment, those budget workers do not enjoy the basic salaries provided for in the Salary Law of 2022. “This is one of the many situations that reveal the true meaning of the slogan ‘Health had priority in the wage law'”, FSSR insists.
“All these requests are part of the demands that the ‘Health Solidarity’ Federation supports through the announced protest program, which may culminate in a national strike. We specify that at this moment the “Health Solidarity” Federation has completed the necessary legal steps, opening the collective labor conflict and requesting the Ministry of Labor to reconcile this conflict. Consequently, we have started collecting signatures for the strike, the reference level being that at least half of the public health sector should sign to support and participate in the strike”, the statement quoted by Economedia.ro also states.
