As Grand Theft Auto V will soon celebrate its tenth anniversary, Rockstar Games recently announced the release of the next summer update for GTA Online, titled San Andreas Mercenaries. This update will bring new content focused on private military aircraft and quality of life improvements for players.
Focus is on fighting and military theme
According to details revealed by Rockstar, players will have the opportunity to join an elite team of pilots and ex-military personnel to fight against the largest private army in San Andreas. A new character, Charlie Reed, was introduced. Reed is an exceptional driver and talented mechanic. He has formed an aviation group called the Los Santos Angels, in which players will have a key role.
Within this group, a variety of money-making opportunities will be offered, ranging from stealing sensitive data from server farms to raiding and dropping explosive charges on high-value targets across the state of San Andreas.
The San Andreas Mercenaries update will also feature upgrades to the Mammoth Avenger, which will become an improved air command center with a new operations terminal and weapon system upgrades. Alongside this, players will have the ability to engage in smuggling activities on the ground, uncovering spontaneous opportunities to scavenge cash and goods from lucrative moving targets.
Rockstar has announced that a new range of upgrades will be available for the Avenger and the Hangar. In addition, it will be possible to store the Avenger in its hangar and access it even without owning a hangar or installation.
When it comes to weapons and vehicles, the San Andreas Mercenaries update will introduce a variety of additions. Players will be able to enjoy new random events, a tactical SMG for on-the-move shootouts, daily time trials, and more. Rockstar also shared screenshots of two new vehicles: a muscle car inspired by the Dodge Charger EV and an all-terrain vehicle resembling the Mitsubishi Pajero Evo. Jet enthusiasts will also be delighted to discover a new stealth fighter inspired by the F-35 Lightning II. It is expected that more vehicles will be revealed during the update which will be rolled out throughout the summer.
Finally, Rockstar Games is committed to improving the quality of life of gamers by meeting their demands. Some of the announced improvements include the ability to claim all destroyed vehicles at once from Mors Mutual Insurance, added sprint control option (hold to sprint) in settings, custom description labels for garages to facilitate finding preferred vehicles, and the eligibility of Willard Eudora and Albany Classic Broadway vehicles for taxi work when using taxi liveries. Additionally, Creator updates will be made to include additional accessories and weather options, including the ability to have snow.
Rockstar Games has also encouraged players to share their feedback on GTA Online on their website, in order to continue improving the gaming experience.
With the San Andreas Mercenaries update, Rockstar Games aims to bring exciting new experiences to GTA Online players, introducing engaging content and community-requested improvements.
The release date for San Andreas Mercenaries is set for June 13 on all current GTA Online platforms, namely PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC.
