Change of identity for Warzone, a way to win back players?
Activision has effectively decided to rename Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 to Call of Duty: Warzone, dropping the new name “Caldera” in the process. Despite returning to the original name, the content and gameplay will be different from the previous era. The visuals recently unveiled by the publisher also give us a glimpse of the new logo of the saga, slightly modified with seasoned corners.
Season 4 will begin on June 14, 2023 on all platforms. Nikto will be featured as an Operator, but details on other new features, including modes, weapons, and maps, are yet to be discovered.
Regarding Warzone, the European urban map called Vondel will be added in all main modes. Players will also be able to enjoy new features such as a Tactical Amphibious Vehicle (TAV), the return of favorite Supply Boxes, and the addition of Dynamic Fog. The Al Mazrah map will also undergo changes with the addition of sand.
As for Modern Warfare II, several maps will be available from launch, including Showdown, Kunstenaar District, Mercado, Penthouse, Mawizeh Marshlands, and Ahkdar Village. Vondel Waterfront will be added mid-season, and Search & Destroy and Prisoner Rescue modes will be offered in 12v12 in addition to the 6v6 format. Additionally, new challenges will unlock a tonfa, and the Battle Pass will offer free access to weapons such as the Tempus Razorback Assault Rifle and ISO 45 SMG.
