The general mayor of the Capital, Nicușor Dan, says, on Digi24, that 50 kilometers of tram line are “in a deplorable condition” and for some of the segments offers have been submitted and the technical evaluation has been completed, the mayor estimating that “in a month and a half from now we will sign the contracts”.
“It’s an opportunity for Bucharest, we have 150 km of tram line. The mayors of the 90s-2000s made 100 of the 150 km that we know of, and there are 50 km left that are in a deplorable state, including Calea Călăraşilor, the one where this incident happened.
First of all, that the STB made the so-called DALIs, documentation for interventions for each of them. I went shopping. For all these 50 km we will also have the money, part from European funds, part from loans”, said, on Monday evening, Nicuşor Dan, referring to the incident on Calea Călăraşilor, where a tram rail broke off and pierced the floor of a bus.
Nicusor Dan specified that offers were submitted for a portion of the 50 km of non-rehabilitated tram line, but not for other segments of the line.
“Offers have been submitted for some of the segments, the evaluation procedure has begun, we have finished the technical evaluation, the financial one is coming, so I estimate that in a month and a half from now we will sign the contracts. Not assigned on all segments. This is one of them, the one that leaves from Piaţa Unirii and goes on to Bessarabia Boulevard. We will succeed in public procurement”, added Nicuşor Dan.
The mayor says that some changes will be made in the non-rehabilitated part of the tram line, where no one came to the auction.
“The opportunity shown to us by the fact that no one showed up is that we want to modify exactly in the area where we happened to make a one-way street on Călăraşi, a one-way street in the opposite direction on Matei Basarab, because it was a bottleneck on Ride. That’s the reason why we didn’t immediately go public. According to the contract, the design takes six months on the segments they have been awarded, so that will be finished at the end of this year and we will start the actual construction works in another 12 months. For example, Mihalache will be fully rehabilitated. Also, line 5, even less this segment from Unirii to Bessarabia”, the mayor also stated.
