Students who have a mother tongue other than Romanian take the written test in their mother tongue today.
The structure of this written test is similar to that of the written test in Romanian language and literature. As a rule, it is Hungarian, German, Croatian, Italian, Serbian, Slovak, Turkish or Ukrainian.
With this test, the 2023 Baccalaureate exam ends. The initial results will appear on July 3, and between July 4 and 6 the appeals will be resolved, and then on July 7 the final results will be displayed after the appeals.
Several incidents took place in this session at BAC 2023. For example, just 15 minutes after the start of the written test in Geography, the topics appeared on Whatsapp.
In the written math test, photos of the subjects appeared on the Internet 5 minutes after the students received the test papers with the requirements.
The Ministry of Education has launched an investigation to find out how this was possible, given that no candidate is allowed to use phones or other devices during the Baccalaureate 2023 written exam.
Students who commit fraud at the BAC are not allowed to participate in the next 2 sessions of the maturity exam.
Problems with the Romanian language and literature
Those who have already escaped their emotions can breathe a sigh of relief. It is about students whose mother tongue is Romanian.
The written test for Romanian language and literature was the first, on June 26. But the candidates encountered serious problems, right from the very first requirements of the exam.
An expression gave the 12th graders a lot of trouble. The requirement is number 1 from point A of Topic I.
“Indicates the meaning in the text of the sequence ‘of course’. The sequence in question can be found in the text at first glance received by the candidates: “Of course, he had gone to meet Constantine and to see another doctor for his illness.”
We are talking about the expression “of course”, which raised questions for the students.
In this sense, they signed a petition asking the Ministry of Education to accept other correct variants of the highly interpretable synonym.
“The Romanian subject of 26.06.2023 was difficult, and the synonym very interpretable. We ask you to consider other variants, such as “willingly”, “obviously”, “also”, “at the same time” and others. These words can all replace the phrase “of course” in the context, the students wrote in the petition signed by more than 3,500 candidates for BAC 2023.
The Minister of Education, Ligia Deca, reacted quickly.
“I saw the discussions in the public space and I also talked with those involved in the organization of the exam.
For a uniform correction, a note was sent to all regional evaluation centers containing clarifications regarding scoring and other synonyms other than the word “of course”, which is mentioned in the scale, but also clarifications regarding how the evaluation is done” , she said.
