Simona Halep could be deleted from the WTA ranking! The athlete from Romania was finally heard on Wednesday and Thursday at the Sport Resolutions court in London, after three postponements, and the Spanish journalists from Marca have now come up with a shocking hypothesis!
Simona Halep, deleted from the WTA ranking
So, tennis player Simona Halep was heard on Wednesday and Thursday at the Sport Resolutions court in London, where she was able to defend herself against doping charges. We remind you that Simona Halep tested positive for a substance prohibited in sports, immediately after the US Open 2022 and was suspended from all sports competitions. Recently, the sportswoman from Romania was especially accused, after irregularities were discovered in her biological passport.
Well, after no less than three postponements, the athlete from Romania had the chance to defend herself against the accusations, and Marca journalists talk about what punishment Simona Halep is likely to receive. They are predicting a two-year ban for Halep from tennis tournaments, which will most likely be reduced by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
The Spaniards also commented on Ilie Năstase’s statements
The publication Marca announced that this way, the Romanian will not be able to defend her points at the Canadian Open (August 4-13), for which she will be out of the WTA rankings: “He will most likely receive this two-year sentence, beginning in November 2022.”announced Marca, after Halep was interviewed.
Spanish journalists also commented on the conspiracy theory launched by Ilie Năstase, who stated that the Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) is delaying the process because Simona Halep is Romanian:
“Former world number 1 Ilie Năstase accused the ITIA of discriminating against Simona Halep because she is Romanian and claimed to have information that other top players had doped, and the cases would have been covered by economic interests. However, he did not provide evidence for these statements, which could be interpreted as an implicit admission of Simona Halep’s doping,” the quoted source writes.
Simona Halep remained with 1,000 points in the ranking, related to the title won last year at the Canadian Open! In the scenario where the Romanian will be banned from defending her trophy, she will simply be deleted from the WTA rankings, and when she returns to competitions, Simona’s participation in tournaments will be conditional on wild cards.
