Seven children and two adults were injured after a car crashed into the building of a primary school in Wimbledon, south-west London, the BBC reports.
The Metropolitan Police were called after a Land Rover crashed into the building where the preparatory classes were operating. The incident took place around 10:00 local time (12:00, Romanian time).
The school is for girls aged four to 11 and is situated next to Wimbledon Common.
Several people received medical attention, and an air ambulance was sent to the scene. The London Fire Brigade is also located there.
The Metropolitan Police said two adults and seven children were among the injured, adding: “We are awaiting further information on their condition. The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene. No arrests have been made.”
The Metropolitan Police added that they were not treating the incident as terrorism-related.
“An investigation is underway to understand all the circumstances in which it took place,” she said.
Study Prep Wimbledon, which is located on Camp Road, is in a fairly secluded location, approximately 1.5 kilometers from the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, home of the Wimbledon Grand Slam.
