Several people in Hunedoara county went through nightmare moments, after seeing how the strong storm ripped the roofs off their houses. The heavy rains witnessed several trees, which fell on cars or even on the roadway. The intervention of the fire department was needed.
Strong storm in Hunedoara
Roofs torn off by the wind, county and national roads blocked and dozens of cars destroyed. These are just some of the damages caused by the storm. Local media reports that the storm was so strong that it knocked down several trees. They either fell on cars or blocked several roads.
“Most of the damage caused by the storm on Wednesday, July 12, is caused by roofs built in the 2000s, without having been approved/authorized by the City Hall. We remind you that, in such situations, the legal responsibility rests with the owners of the houses in the respective blocks. For the time being, we are focusing on the emergency interventions that are necessary today”, the representatives of the Hunedoara City Hall sent on social networks.
According to the authorities, road traffic on DN7 was blocked in both directions, after a tree fell on the road, on “Dealul Haţegului”. Not only the houses were left without roofs, but also a block of flats. The falling pieces damaged three cars nearby.
Locals who were nearby captured the moment and later uploaded it on social media. The videos have gathered thousands of reactions and comments. The intervention of the fire department was also needed. The rescuers intervened to remove the fallen trees.

“In the town of Sântuhalm, a tree fell on a car, in which fortunately there was no one. In the municipality of Hunedoara, Constantin Bârsan str. – a part of a sheet metal roof, with an area of about 90 square meters, was torn off by the strong wind, collapsing on top of three cars.
In the village of Plopi, commune of Bretea Română, a tree fell on the road, blocking traffic on DN 66. In the municipality of Hunedoara and in the city of Călan, due to the strong wind, several trees were felled, blocking several traffic arteries. Two trees fell in the towns of Grădiştea de Munte and Bucium. To clear the wooden material from the roadway (DJ 705 A), firefighters from the Orăştie Detachment intervene,” ISU Hunedoara reported, according to news.ro.
