There was flooding in some areas of the country on the afternoon of Thursday 13 July, with the rain wreaking havoc and causing substantial damage. Moreover, ANM has issued an Orange Code of severe atmospheric instability in the northern half of the country, which came into effect at 3:00 p.m. and is valid until Friday, July 16, at 8:00 a.m. Here is what the picture of the disaster looks like.
The storms wreaked havoc in some areas of the country
The violent storms that fell on some areas of the country caused significant damage. The wind and significant amounts of rainfall knocked down dozens of trees, snapped power lines, damaged cars and even took down railings or roofs of buildings.
From the images captured by the residents of the affected areas, it can be seen how, in just a few minutes, the storms destroyed everything in their path.
Disaster in Cluj
The orange code of storms and blizzards that fell on Cluj county produced significant damage. The Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU) Cluj reported that the roofs of some houses in Livada, Dej and Gherla were blown away by the strong wind, and several trees fell on the road.
During today’s day, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations issued a RO-ALERT message warning of bad weather for several areas.
Storm in Bistrita
And in Bistrita, several warnings were issued regarding extreme phenomena caused by atmospheric instability. The Committee for Emergency Situations Bistrita-Năsăud informed that a violent storm affected several localities in the county, resulting in several fallen trees.
At ISU SAJ Bistrita Năsăud, 37 calls were made to the emergency number 112 shortly after the storm passed.
Flood and in Neamt
Neamț County was not spared by the flood either. In just a few minutes, the sky was covered with black clouds that brought significant amounts of precipitation and an extremely strong wind.
Firefighters were requested to intervene to remove pieces of sheet metal (from a roof) that had fallen on several cars. Also, the railing of a balcony of a building in the city center fell on a car parked in the area. It also intervenes for the removal of some fallen trees on the road in the municipality of Piatra-Neamț.
In the Farcașa commune, the firefighters intervene to remove some fallen trees on the roadway, but also to a peco that was heavily affected by the storms, having its roof torn off. Images in PHOTO GALLERY.
ANM warning: Code Orange for storms
We remind you that on Thursday, July 13, ANM issued an Orange Code of severe atmospheric instability, valid until Friday, July 14 (interval: July 13, 3:00 p.m. – July 14, 8:00 a.m.), targeting the northern half of the country.
“During the mentioned interval in Crisana, Maramureș, most of Transylvania, the northern half of Moldova and locally in Banat there will be periods of accentuated atmospheric instability.
This will be manifested by wind intensifications (gusts of 70…90 km/h and isolated over 100 km/h), strong gales, medium-sized hail, frequent electrical discharges and torrential showers (in short intervals of 1 up to 3 hours, the amounts of water will be 30…40 l/m2 and isolated over 50…60 l/m2), informs ANM, according to meteoromania.ro.
