Tomato, cucumber and onion salad is the most loved summer dish. It is the time when all these vegetables are cooked, which together lead to a bath of tastes and aromas. It seems, however, that specialists do not recommend this mixture, in some situations being a real danger to the body.
The danger in tomato salad
Tomato salad is the most loved summer dish, which everyone eats. However, how many have wondered if it is also healthy for the body? Find out that, in association with other vegetables, it becomes a danger to digestion.
According to nutritionists, we should not eat tomatoes, cucumbers and onions at the same meal. This recommendation is based on the chemical properties of these foods. Cucumbers are considered alkaline foods, while tomatoes are considered acidifying foods.
Thus, consuming them together can affect the pH of the stomach, which can lead to discomfort and, in some cases, poor health in the long term.
Specialists claim that when we combine tomatoes with cucumbers, salts are formed in the body. Moreover, this combination can cause the formation of gas in the intestine, since these vegetables have different digestion processes. Thus, our digestion will suffer after a large meal.
How fattening is salad
Many eat salads when they want to get rid of extra pounds, especially in summer, when they have a lot of vegetables available. It seems, however, that this preparation is also a danger for our diet.
Doctors draw attention to the fact that we should not put eggs, ham or too much oil in salads, because many calories are accumulated and we can no longer say that we are on a diet.
The time at which we consume them is also important. In vain we abstained from food during the day, if in the middle of the night we sit down to the table.
“I know many people who gain weight because of salads. Salads with eggs, fats, too much oil, with ham or even fruit salads with whipped cream or other toppings are not really “friendly” to the figure. In addition, you eat grilled fish or salad for nothing, if you eat at 1 in the morning”, added the doctor, writes doctorulzilei.ro.
According to the specialist, there are no truly harmful foods, only excessive amounts, incorrect preparation methods or inappropriate times for their consumption. We should not starve ourselves or not eat certain foods, but introduce them into the diet responsibly.
“You can eat almost anything for lunch: pasta, baked apple, fish, pizza, because a slice of pizza once a week or a pancake with jam never killed anyone. We don’t have to be fixists and abstain from the foods we like, and it’s best to satisfy our appetites at lunch, not at dinner,” recommended the doctor.
