A father and son, beaten up in Lidl
A shocking event took place this week in a Lidl store in Titan, Bucharest. On Wednesday, July 19, around 6:00 p.m., in a supermarket located on Brațării street in the mentioned Bucharest neighborhood, three men beat up two customers of the store.
The victims were a father and a son, the former being elderly. They were in line at the cash register in the Lidl supermarket when three young men got in front, in a row, to pay for certain products, according to the testimonies of those on the scene.
Under the circumstances, the older father called the attention of the three young men, explaining that it was not polite to walk in front of them while they were waiting in line. The three aggressors started cursing and threatening him, and after he finished paying for his shopping, things escalated.
The aggressors cornered the elderly father, according to information from the public space, and beat him very hard, disfiguring him, but also hitting his son. The elderly man was also allegedly hit in the head with a bottle, which was later covered in blood.
What the authorities announced
Two security guards at the Lidl store in Titan witnessed the violence, without intervening to separate the customers. Instead, they chose to call 112, with several police officers from Section 13 arriving on the scene.
If the Lidl representatives believed that the security guards respected the company’s internal procedures, the police did not have the same opinion. They applied financial penalties to Lidl security guards.
“Police officers from the Private Security Systems Department – Section 13 carried out checks on compliance with the provisions of Law 333/2003 and applied two contraventional sanctions to the two security guards, employees of a company that provides security in the supermarket in sector 3, who were on duty at the time of the event”, states the Capital Police.
As for the three aggressors, they are currently being investigated for crimes of threat, hitting or other violence and disturbing public order and peace. They will be presented before the magistrates, who will decide whether or not to issue a preventive arrest warrant, the Capital Police reported.
