The leaders of the Iași branch of the PSD claim that cultural Iași suffers “a lot” under the leadership of Costel Alexe and Mihai Chirica. The social democrats hope that the Minister of Culture, Raluca Turcan, has come to Iasi to put the liberals from the County Council and the City Hall to work.
“We welcome the visit of Minister Raluca Turcan to Iasi. We hope that he has come to put the liberals from the County Council and the City Hall to work. Cultural Iasi suffers a lot under the leadership of Costel Alexe and Mihai Chirica. PSD Iași has long asked the two to submit a site for the National Opera to the Ministry of Culture. Including the former Minister of Culture, the social democrat Lucian Romaşcanu, constantly requested a plot of land from the Iasi authorities for the headquarters of the Opera House and drew attention to the risk of losing funding”, said Bogdan Balanişcu, leader of the PSD Iaşi municipal branch , quoted by news.ro.
For his part, the head of the PSD Iaşi county branch, Bogdan Cojocaru, stated that he hopes that at least in the future the liberals will pay due attention to the project of building the new Iasi Opera House.
Also, the leader of the PSD Iaşi specified that there is a disinterest of the PNL in the case of the Iaşi Philharmonic.
“If at the Opera they played with the land for the headquarters, at the Philharmonic, Alexe and Chirica are playing with the financing. Alexe finds funds, Chirica finds them, but, concretely, nothing happens”, said Bogdan Cojocaru.
The Minister of Culture Raluca Turcan declared, on Wednesday, that for the first time there are financial resources for the construction of a new cultural institution from scratch in Romania, specifying that it is about the new headquarters of the Iasi Opera House, which is to be built in the Copou area.
Minister Raluca Turcan inspected on Wednesday, together with heads of the local and county administration, the 10,000 square meter plot of land located next to the headquarters of the Apa Vital company in Iași, on which the new headquarters of the Opera House will be built.
At the same time, the Minister of Culture visited several Iasi cultural institutions on Wednesday, including the Philharmonic, the National Theater and the Palace of Culture.
The President of Iaşi County Council Costel Alexe also announced on Wednesday that by the end of August, the winner for the execution of the works on the buildings where the Iași Philharmonic operates will be appointed.
