Starting this weekend, Romanians will benefit from a mini-vacation, on the occasion of the “Assumption of the Virgin”, or as it is also called “Saint Mary the Great”, celebrated on August 15. As it is also presented in the Romanian Orthodox Calendar, the 15th of August represents one of the important Christian holidays, “The Assumption of the Mother of God”. In popular belief, the day is also known as “Saint Mary the Great”, being the day when Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, ascends to the right of her son.

Considering this day, it was decided that the budget employees will benefit from a mini-vacation, which will start from tomorrow, the 12th, and will last until August 15th, inclusive, which falls on a Tuesday.
The Black Sea coast will be full of tourists
According to the tour operators, this extended weekend will bring a significant number of tourists, mostly Romanians, on the last hundred meters of this summer season, considering that in September, on the 10th, it will end, and the next day, on the 11th September will start the new school year.

According to statistics from past years, during this period the number of Romanians who choose to spend their mini-vacation at the Black Sea has been increasing, so this year may be the same.
But, as in the last week the temperature of the Black Sea water dropped dramatically, up to 18 degrees, many wondered what temperature the Black Sea water will have during the mini-holiday of Saint Mary.

What temperature will the water of the Black Sea have during the Saint Mary’s mini-holiday
This year, over 200,000 Romanians are expected to spend the extended weekend at the Black Sea for the “Assumption of the Virgin Mary”.
ANM meteorologists say that the water temperature, although it is now between 17-18 degrees, starting from Sunday, August 13, will rise to, at most, 22 degrees, but depending on the resort where the tourists will be.

As for the degree of hotel occupancy, the tour operators say that they are 100% occupied, including until August 16.
