Today, the students took the written exam in Romanian language and literature within the 2023 Baccalaureate exam, the autumn session. The solutions to the topics will be published on Playtech.ro as soon as the first information appears.
The mandatory test of the profile – Mathematics or History will take place on August 17. The autumn baccalaureate session continues with the test for choosing the profile and specialization, scheduled for August 18, and the test for the mother tongue will take place on August 21.
Baccalaureate calendar 2023 autumn session
- 17 – 24 July 2023: Registration of candidates for the second exam session, including candidates who have passed the qualifying exams
- August 7 – 8, 2023: Assessment of oral communication skills in Romanian – test A
- August 8, 2023: Assessment of oral communication skills in the mother tongue – test B
- August 9, 2023: Digital skills assessment – sample D
- 10 – 11 August 2023: Assessment of language skills in a language of international circulation – test C
- August 16, 2023: Romanian language and literature – test Ea) – written test
- August 17, 2023: Mandatory profile test – Ec test) – written test

BAC autumn session 2023, the smallest number of candidates
In the session of the national baccalaureate exam, session August – September 2023, 33,900 candidates registered. According to statistics, this is the lowest number of students enrolled in the last 18 years. Last year, at the second BAC session, 34,823 enrolled. Most registered in 2011, when there were 110,708.
Also, according to the Ministry of Education, in the first session of the BAC 2023 exam, 31,278 candidates were rejected, following the resolution of appeals.
Pass rate of the BAC exam 2023, first session
After evaluating the appeals, 94,004 candidates were passed, according to a press release sent by the Ministry of Education. Also, 125,352 candidates were enrolled, 111,253 from the current promotion and 14,099 from the previous promotions. Out of the total number of candidates, 89,555 candidates from the current promotion passed and 4,449 from the previous promotions.
The cumulative pass rate is 75%. From the current promotion, the success rate for the baccalaureate exam is 80.5%, up from last year, when there was an 80% pass rate.
On the other hand, the percentage for previous promotions is decreasing. In 2023, only 76 students obtained the average 10 and 31,278 were declared rejected.

The autumn baccalaureate will be the first to be digitized in the entire country
This fall’s baccalaureate will be digitally corrected in all exam centers, announced the Minister of Education, Ligia Deca and State Secretaries Florian Lixandru and Sorin Ion.
“This year, the Ministry of Education purchased the platform on which the digitized assessment will be carried out (…) we are going to extend the digitized assessment to the autumn session of the baccalaureate exam in all exam centers in the country”, announced on June 26 the Secretary of State Florian Lixandru at TVR.
