“After the war, many heroes show themselves!”, and points with the finger

But as the proverbial saying goes “After the war, many heroes show themselves!“, the comments and accusations against the one who was an important scientist, a recognized neurologist and member of the Romanian Academy also appeared.

Many of these accusations refer to the activity of the academician during the communist period, being accused of collaboration with Ceaușescu’s Security and more. But, also today, the same Lazar Gigel declared for DC News, in response to the accusations that appeared in the public space:
“I promised six years ago that I would not talk about what happened to the CNSAS, but today I will say it. We had Florian Chiriţescu, member of CNSAS, as general secretary at CIADO.
We were told very clearly that the academician Constantin Bălăceanu-Stolnici had to disappear from public and political life especially, because he had managed to coagulate everything that meant the right-wing factions, and that bothered a lot of people.
This was the reason why Florian, who was a member of CNSAS, said, “do you think that if I, as a member of CNSAS, had known that he was a real caster, I would have been with him in everything that CIADO Romania means?”. It was a great response, and may God forgive him, because in the meantime he also died,” declared Lazar Gigel for DCNews.

Constantin Bălăceanu-Stolnici and the collaboration with the “special character”
In 2017, according to some texts on the website of the Romanian Academy, the late Constantin Bălăceanu-Stolnici acknowledged his collaboration with the Security organs, but the academician said:
“As I stated a few months ago, I collaborated with the Romanian secret services during the Ceausescu era. This collaboration was initially determined by the special nature of my scientific research (and the international relations I had made through correspondence) related to cybernetics and the study of neural networks which at that time were viewed with suspicion and considered almost delusional by our leadership as potentially very dangerous, politically and militarily, and as such must be rigorously monitored.
Then it was determined by the fact that I was a manager (head of department) within the “Ana Aslan” Institute of Geriatrics, where I had daily contracts with foreigners holding important political (even heads of state), military, economic, press and culture, to which prominent members from the world of Islamic terrorism of those times were added, as well as diplomats accredited to us.
This collaboration was part of the legal obligations at the time that required the reporting of all contracts and discussions with foreign personalities”.
