A new protest took place on Monday evening after the tragedy at the Botoșani Maternity Hospital, which shook the entire country. Hundreds of people marched last night, on the streets of the municipality, in memory of the young mother who died in the hospital bed desperately asking for help. The medical personnel who were on duty on the night of the tragedy were suspended from their positions.
More than 200 people took to the streets of Botoșani for the second day in a row, outraged that the doctors would have let the 25-year-old woman die, who begged for help all night. The pregnant woman arrived at the maternity ward with great pain and bleeding. The protesters also walked and chanted in front of the maternity hospital. The nurses came to ask them to be quiet and were booed.
The young woman’s pregnancy stopped developing at 3 months, but she was not cured. She also had 3 children at home between the ages of 1 and 5. After the family has already buried the one who died in terrible agony, the Ministry of Health announces the first measure in this case: a working group.
In parallel, the director of the hospital suspended the medical staff who were on duty the evening the woman arrived at the maternity hospital. And the Directorate of Public Health did a check after the tragedy.
Teodor Ferariu, DSP Botoșani director: “There is a criminal complaint made by the brother of the deceased. And at the level of the health unit, the discipline and ethics commission was established in order to evaluate the activity of the medical staff involved in the management of the patient. There is still no final report at the time of face, because we are still waiting for the result from forensic medicine.”
The woman in the hospital bed repeatedly asked the doctors to operate on her as soon as possible, because she is in unbearable pain. However, help did not come in time. In this case, 4 investigations are opened.
