For more than five decades, the sound magicianAnușavan Salamanian, dedicated his entire life to Romanian cinema.
He is the man who was behind an important number of Romanian cinematographic productions, from 1962 until 2008, when he signed for the last time the sound director for “Foreign Legion”, a film directed by Mircea Daneliuc, starring Cătălin Paraschiv, Radu Ciobănașu, Radu Iacoban and Oana Piecniță.

There are few people who still remember Caliacra county, which in the year of the late Anușavan Salamanian’s birth was part of the Romanian territories, today beyond the Danube, as Bulgarian territory.
The sound engineer Anușavan Salamanian was born here, on March 12, 1932, in the town of Bazargic. After finishing primary education, the future sound magician enter the Union Institute of Cinematographic Technique in Leningrad.
He had collaborations with the great Romanian directors
His first important film production would come in 1962, “Sa furat o bombă” directed by the famous Ion Popescu Gopo, the soundtrack being made in collaboration with another great Romanian sound engineer, Valentin Bude.
He collaborated with Sergiu Nicolaescu in historical productions, some of which remain as some of the best historical films, from “Tudor”, from 1963, to “Crown of Fire”, a film also directed by the late Sergiu Nicolaescu in 1990 , or the first Romanian international success “Asfalt Tango” from 1996, directed by Nae Caranfil.

Having reached the venerable age of 91 years, and retired from activity since 2008, we learn today with regret that Anușavan Salamanian died after a career of 50 years, the announcement was made by the administrators of the Facebook page of the University of Theater and Cinematographic Art ” ILCaragiale”, they writing:
“It is with unspeakable regret that we announce the death of the great sound engineer Anușavan Salamanian. Born on March 12, 1932 in Bazargic (today Dobric, on the territory of Bulgaria), Anușavan Salamanian graduated from the Institute of Cinematographic Engineers in Saint Petersburg.
With an impressive career spanning almost 50 years, during which he created the soundtrack for an impressive number of cinematographic and television productions, Anușavan Salamanian represents one of the three fundamental pillars of the history of Romanian film sound, alongside by Silviu Camil and Andrei Papp.
On 26.08.2023, at 10:00 a.m. the dead body will be deposited at the Chapel of the Armenian Cemetery in Pantelimon (Bucharest Municipality), and at 11:00 a.m. the funeral service will take place. May God forgive him and rest him!”
