Last minute announcement given by meteorologists! During this morning, ANM issued three yellow code warnings and at least two orange code warnings, most of them being heatwave and thermal discomfort warnings. On the other hand, also today, we have a last-minute announcement from meteorologists who put Romania under a yellow code for gales and hail. Read on and find out the details.
At the beginning of the week, yellow code and orange heat wave warnings
The last 48 hours, unfortunately, brought new extreme, hot temperatures in almost the entire country, and the thermal discomfort was far above average.
Although a breeze was still felt in some parts, the thermometers showed values above 39 degrees.
In this context, ANM issued yellow and orange code weather warnings this morning, some of them also valid throughout the day of August 29.
But for today, the ANM says that we will feel the heat wave intensifying and expanding, as well as increased thermal discomfort:
”Code Yellow August 28, 2023: On Monday (August 28) the heat wave will continue. In the east of Transylvania, in Dobrogea, in the north of Muntenia and Oltenia, the thermal discomfort will be high, and the temperature-humidity index (ITU) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units.
Maximum temperatures will generally be between 35 and 37 degrees, and minimum temperatures will be between 17 and 21 degrees.
Code Orange August 28, 2023: In Maramureș, Crisana, Banat, Moldova, southern Oltenia and Muntenia and most of Transylvania, maximum temperatures will generally be 37…39 degrees, and minimums will be between 18 and 26 degrees, so that the discomfort thermal will be accentuated. The temperature-humidity index (ITU) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units,” ANM announces for today.

Last minute announcement for August 29 from ANM
Also today the meteorologists come with bad news for Tuesday, August 29, publishing three weather warnings, two code yellow and one code orange.
”Code Yellow August 29, 2023: On Tuesday (29 August) the heat wave will persist in the north-west, south, east and locally in the center of the country. In the north of Crișana, in the west of Maramureș, Transylvania and Moldova, in most of Oltenia, the north of Muntenia and locally in Dobrogea, thermal discomfort will be high, and the temperature-humidity index (ITU) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units . The maximum temperatures will be between 33 and 36 degrees, and the minimum between 17 and 21 degrees.
Code Orange August 29, 2023: In the south and east of Muntenia, most of Moldova and the continental part of Constanța county, maximum temperatures of 37…39 degrees will be recorded, and minimums will be between 18 and 22 degrees, so thermal discomfort will be accentuated. The temperature-humidity index (ITU) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units,” the ANM states for today.

Romania, under yellow code for gales and hail
In addition to the two heat wave warnings, in contrast to what is happening in the mentioned regions, Romania will also be under a yellow code for blizzards and hail tomorrow, with the ANM specifying which areas will be affected by blizzards and hail:
“During the mentioned interval, the weather will become unstable in the south-west of the country. There will be showers, electrical discharges, short-term intensification of the wind (gusts of 55…65 km/h), gales and isolated hail.
In short periods of time or through accumulation, the water quantities will be 25…30 l/m2 and isolated over 40 l/m2.
After noon and during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, the atmospheric instability will manifest itself especially in the western half of the country,” reads this last-minute announcement from ANM.
